– According to the political pundit, Raila has no plan and is completely lost

– He said the ODM party leader had resorted to seeking approval from dynasties

– Raila, Ngunyi added, was outwitted by Ruto 10 years ago and the reality will hit him in 2022

The meeting between Opposition chief Raila Odinga and retired president Daniel arap Moi on April 12, a few days after signing a unity pact with President Uhuru Kenyatta, sparked a heated debate with most Kenyans wondering what the former prime minister was up to.

Among those who were intrigued by the surprise Raila-Moi meeting in Kabarak was political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi.

From what TUKO.co.ke gathered, opinion was sharply divided on what the high profile two-hour closed-door meeting entailed.

In his opinion, Ngunyi appeared to suggest Raila had gone to seek favours from Mzee Moi in desperate attempts to reinvent himself.

"He (Raila) is looking for approval from Nyayo. He still believes that Moi has some magic tricks in a bag somewhere," Ngunyi said on his The 5th Estate Youtube channel.

According to the political analyst, Raila will never lose to Ruto in 2022 should he choose to run again because his heydays in the political arena are over.

"The year 2022 will mark 30 years of multi-party politics in Kenya. And for the first time in 30 years, we will have an election without a Kikuyu candidate. Ruto saw this reality 10 years ago, but Raila did not," Ngunyi argued.

Ngunyi added the former prime minister is likely to also pay a courtesy call to retired president Mwai Kibaki in his quest for approval. But these new alliances, Ngunyi argued, will not save the ODM party boss from Ruto.

"In my view Raila has no plan and is completely lost. He has become a prisoner of the past. In the meantime, Ruto has read the signs of the times, and instead of relying on dynasties, he has banked with the poor. He will be made president by the hustler nation," Ngunyi said.
