– Kenneth has revealed that he will unveil his running mate in the coming days
– He has also taken a swipe at Sonko and Kidero
Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth has hinted on when he will unveil his running mate ahead of the August 8 General Election.
As reported early by TUKO.co.ke, Kenneth announced Friday, May 19, that he had ditched the Jubilee party and will vie as an independent candidate.
He made the decision after the Jubilee party upheld his rival’s, Mike Sonko, win in the hotly contested nominations held in April.

Kenneth has labeled the nominations a sham and claimed he is confident he will trounce Sonko and Kidero for the city top seat.
Asked about his running mate, the former Gatanga MP failed to reveal who will deputise him but promised to unveil the running mate in the next couple of days.

“I will unveil my running mate late next week. We have had discussions where we involved elders and we have three individuals whom we are considering,” Kenneth said.
His rival Mike Sonko unveiled Vivo Energy CEO Polycarp Igathe as his running mate, a move that has been welcomed by Deputy President William Ruto.
Kenneth pledged to support President Uhuru’s re-election despite losing in Jubilee primaries.

Asked about Ruto openly campaigning for Sonko, Kenneth said he has no issue with it because he believes Nairobi residents are well informed and know who they want as governor.
He also dismissed Kidero’s leadership saying he has failed the county and should be replaced.
