Siaya Senator James Orengo has shed more light on the implications of the new NASA format after the joining of Bomet governor Isaac Ruto on Thursday, April 20.
Ruto, a fierce Jubilee critic, was officially unveiled by the National Super Alliance co-principals at the Bomas of Kenya as another principal, bringing the number of possible flag-bearers to five.
While the move saw mixed reactions all over, Orengo, who formed part of the committee tasked to choose the most suitable candidate, revealed that the Chama Cha Mashinani party leader stands a fair chance of being named flagbearer.

Speaking at an interview after the unveiling of CCM as a NASA affiliate, Orengo praised Ruto for his leadership qualities, while adding that he will be a crucial part of the flag-bearer talks.
“Ruto joins Nasa with the qualities of a leader and hence joins Nasa’s leadership summit. He joins as a co-principal who will engage in flag-bearer talks with the other principals,” He said in the interview.

His remarks come despite reports that the Alliance had already settled on a flag bearer.
It was highly anticipated that the flagbearer would be announced during the unveiling of Ruto as an official player in the alliance, but supporters will have to maintain their patience a little longer.

Co-principal Moses Wetangula promised supporters that they will finally know the individual who will be lined up against Uhuru Kenyatta in 7 days’ time.
